Can we talk about the time my friend's job application got flagged by an AI screening tool for a really weird reason?
So, my friend Jake was applying for a graphic design job in Seattle. He's got a solid portfolio, but he got an auto-reject email within an hour. He was confused, so he asked a contact at the company to look into it. Turns out, the AI system flagged his resume because he listed a past role at a company called 'Killer Graphics.' The algorithm associated the word 'killer' with violence and flagged it as 'potentially problematic content.' He had to explain to a human that it was just the company's edgy name from like 2010. He got an interview after that, but it made me wonder. How many good people are getting silently filtered out for nonsense like this? Who's responsible for checking these automated biases? Has anyone else seen a hiring bot make a call this bad?

Remember when a bot rejected me for having "Python" on my resume.
