Blew $60 on an AI resume builder that couldn't handle a basic career gap
I was out of work for 8 months after that concrete plant shut down, so I paid for one of those AI resume tools that promised to optimize my job history. Spent $60 on the premium plan, uploaded my info, and it flagged my employment gap as a red flag over and over. The tool kept suggesting I lie and extend a previous job to cover the months, which is just wrong on so many levels. I ended up deleting the whole thing and writing it out myself in an hour. Has anyone else had these automated systems try to push you into bending the truth just to get past a filter?

Bought the same one for my buddy after he got laid off from a warehouse gig. It kept pushing him to turn his 6-month gap into "freelance consulting" which was total BS. He just put the actual dates down and explained in his cover letter that he took time to help his mom after surgery. Got hired two weeks later at a better place. These tools are just trying to make you look like a liar to feed their algorithm.

Wait is that what these apps actually do? Feels like they’re just training you to sound fake instead of actually helping you land a job.
