AI wrote my dating profile and I got 47 matches in 3 days, then it got weird
Last Tuesday I let ChatGPT write my Tinder bio and prompts for fun. Gave it zero details except 'line cook, sarcastic, hates mornings'. It spit out some smooth nonsense about 'crafting flavor experiences' and 'seeking someone to share my last slice of pizza with'. Figured why not, posted it. 47 matches in 72 hours. Most of them opened with the exact same line about my 'culinary artistry'. One woman asked if I could make her a tasting menu for her birthday, which I absolutely cannot. Another guy wanted me to critique his sourdough starter over voice notes for an hour. I deleted the whole thing because nobody was actually talking to me, they were talking to the algorithm's version of me. The weird part? My own hand-written profile got maybe 3 matches in six months. So is the AI just better at lying, or am I worse at being interesting? Has anyone else tried this and felt like they were impersonating themselves?
Reminds me of when my cousin used a resume builder that made him sound like a Fortune 500 CEO, and he got callbacks for jobs he was in no way qualified for. The bots on both ends just match with each other's fake versions until somebody has to show up in person and actually be a line cook. It's like the whole app is two mirrors facing each other and nobody real is in the room.
