A chat with my friend Dave at the coffee shop last month really got me thinking
We were in Seattle, and he works for a company that uses AI to screen job applications. He said the system automatically rejected anyone with a gap in their resume longer than six months, no questions asked. It just made me wonder, who decides what a 'red flag' is for a machine? Has anyone else seen an AI rule that just seemed way too harsh and final?

Yeah @amy_murphy85, that hospital example really hits the point. I mean, what does "loyalty" even mean if you're just supposed to stick with a bad commute or low pay forever? Who decides those rules for the algorithm anyway, some manager who's never had to swap shifts?

Read an article about a hospital system that used AI to filter out nurses who had changed jobs more than twice. The algorithm saw any movement as a lack of loyalty, even if they moved for better pay or a shorter commute. It just flagged them all.

That's a wild way to treat nurses, @jones.anna. The AI just misses the whole point of why people change jobs. It's punishing them for trying to get a better life.
