Warning: I let my electric guitar sit for 6 months and the frets got rough

Noticed last week after grabbing my Fender Strat that the frets felt like sandpaper, took me 2 hours with a micro-mesh kit to smooth them out again. Has anyone else dealt with fret corrosion from just not playing for a while?

Did you try steaming the fretboard while you had the strings off? That can push some of the corrosion back out.

Ha! @the_ryan better be careful or he's gonna turn his guitar into a humidifier. I tried that once and ended up with fretboard that looked like it survived a flood. Now I just wipe the strings down with a microfiber cloth after playing and call it a day. Way less drama, way less chance of my guitar growing mold.
