Used to defend AI art by saying it's just a tool, then my cousin generated a perfect copy of my grandmother's painting style in 5 minutes
I was all for AI as a creativity booster until my non-artist cousin fed 30 of my grandma's oil paintings into an AI model and it spat out something indistinguishable from her work. Has anyone else had their perspective shift after seeing AI replicate something deeply personal like a family member's art style?

It's like how @black.pat said about stealing a voice. That really hits home. My neighbor did the same thing with her dead father's woodworking patterns, fed them into some CNC program, and now she cranks out copies like they're nothing. It's not just art anymore, it's the whole idea of what makes something personal vs just a product.

30 photos is all it took to steal her voice.

that's really unsettling honestly. 30 photos is nothing, most people have way more than that just in their camera roll from a single weekend. makes you wonder what else is out there being copied without anyone knowing.
