Unpopular opinion: I thought AI art was just a copy machine until I saw it at a gallery in Portland
I was at a small gallery opening there about six months ago. The artist had a piece that was a mix of AI and her own painting, and she explained how she fed the AI hundreds of her own sketches to get a base. She then painted over it for a full week. Everyone online says AI art has zero human input, but seeing that process changed my mind. It's a tool, not a thief. The final piece was something she could never have made alone. How many of you have actually seen AI art used in a real creative process, not just a prompt online?

Didn't that one artist use AI to make weird furniture?

Oh the gallery piece, my friend said it was just a bunch of old keys glued to a board. The whole point was supposed to be about lost memories or something, but honestly it just looked like junk. He left after five minutes, lol.
