Tried Midjourney and DALL-E 3 on the same album cover pitch and the difference was embarrassing
I spent last weekend messing with both for a client's indie folk album cover and the gap was huge. Midjourney gave me this moody shot of a barn at dusk that actually looked hand painted, while DALL-E 3 kept spitting out that weird glossy plastic look no matter what words I threw at it. I burned through about 40 prompts on each and only saved 3 from DALL-E, versus 11 usable ones from Midjourney. Maybe it's just me but the lighting and texture in the Midjourney stuff felt way more like a real artist's hand. Anyone else notice one tool is just better for certain styles, or am I picking the wrong prompts?
That 11 to 3 split is wild to me because I had the total opposite thing happen last month with a sci fi book cover. I got all these crisp spaceship shots out of DALL-E on the first few tries while Midjourney kept giving me these dreamy abstract blobs that looked nothing like what I asked for. Guess it really does come down to the style you're going for and not just the tool.
