The 200 prompt challenge that flipped my AI art opinion

Last month I spent 15 hours feeding an AI art bot my own photography to see if it could make something new. I thought I was being smart, but my friend who paints saw one output and said 'this is just your work with a filter slapped on.' She was right, I had been using AI to copy my own style instead of letting it surprise me. Has anyone else realized they were just turning AI into an expensive mirror instead of using it for real experimentation?
