PSA: My cafe's AI art print got me flagged by a local artist collective

I went to a new coffee shop in Portland last week called Brew & Frame. They had this huge AI generated landscape of Mount Hood on the wall behind the counter. I asked the barista who made it and she said they used some software themselves. A few days later a local artist walked in and started yelling that it was stealing from their style. Now I'm wondering - if the cafe paid for the AI tool and made something original, is that still unethical? Or does the artist have a point about it ripping off their years of work? What do you all think about where the line is for small businesses?

Slapping your name on AI art is kinda weak.

Had a guy in my dnd group try to pass off AI generated character portraits as his own paintings. Got real quiet when I asked what brushes he used. The hands were all wrong, six fingers on one character.
