PSA: I used to think AI art was just a cool filter until I saw my own work in a dataset
About a year ago, I was messing around with a popular image generator, making fantasy landscapes. I typed in 'forest with glowing mushrooms' and got something back that looked oddly familiar. The style was a dead ringer for a series of paintings I posted online back in 2018. I checked the tool's public training data list and sure enough, the site I used was in there. It hit me that I'd been feeding these systems for years without a second thought. Has anyone else had that gut-punch moment of recognition?
