Just read that a major art contest winner used AI and didn't tell anyone until after

I was scrolling through an article on ArtStation's blog last night and it mentioned a digital art competition from 2023 where the first-place piece was made with Midjourney. The artist admitted it a week later, saying they wanted to see if it could pass as human-made. Does that cross an ethical line, or is it just using a new tool to its full potential?
