I finally showed my AI art at a local gallery opening last month

It was at a small place in my city, Portland, and I had three pieces I made with Midjourney. The gallery owner was cool with it, but a painter there got really mad. He said to my face, 'You didn't make that, a computer did.' It kind of ruined the night for me. I spent over 40 hours on prompts and edits for those images. Does using the tool that much count as creative work, or was he right?

Oh man, that painter can get lost. Spending 40 hours on anything is work, full stop. It's like saying a photographer didn't make a picture because they used a camera. You guided the whole process, you made the choices. His problem is he's scared his own work isn't special anymore.

Right? Dude's acting like his paintbrush is a magic wand and not a tool.

Read a great article comparing AI art prompts to a director guiding actors.
