Hit 10,000 image generations in Midjourney yesterday and it got me thinking about skill vs luck
I was just messing around in my settings and noticed I've hit over 10,000 image generations since I started using Midjourney about 8 months ago. At first I was like cool, that's a lot of prompts. But then I started thinking about how many of those actually came out good. Maybe like 200 of them are things I'd actually show someone. The rest is just noise. It made me realize that even with AI art, there's still this huge gap between cranking out volume and actually making something that works. I mean, I've gotten better at prompting sure, but a lot of it still feels like rolling dice. Has anyone else hit a crazy generation number and started questioning if you're actually getting better or just getting lucky sometimes?

That line about "cranking out volume vs making something that works" hits pretty close to home. It's the same thing I notice when people buy lottery tickets every week and call it a strategy.
