Fed 30 of my own old drawings into an AI tool as a test and it spat back stuff I never made
I took a stack of 30 sketches from my own sketchbooks, stuff I drew between 2018 and 2021, and ran them through a training tool just to see what it would do with my own style. It started generating faces and hands I had never drawn in poses I never thought of, and honestly some of them looked like a version of me that kept drawing for another ten years. So where is the line here, is it still my art if the machine only learned from my hand, or does the output belong to the tool that mixed it up?
It's kind of like when you hum a tune and someone records it and remixes it. The notes came from you but the new song feels like theirs too. Reminds me of how nothing really has one clear owner anymore, we just kind of share everything and call it ours.
